I have seen many cases where the inspector walks by a problem while checking the box. It isn't deliberate on their part but it is the result of poorly written inspection procedures, poor training, and poor support from management. A good PM person is worth their weight in gold to the operation because of the problems that they catch early. It takes careful selection of that person by management, good procedures, and good training plus the follow up to insure that the job gets done right.
The CMP's from IDCON are excellent. I'm looking forward to seeing the next batch that gets added to the list.

This is one of my biggest problem I have as maintenance manager.

The staff came with a several pages of maintenance routines filled with OK marks. few hours the equipment is failing. Everytime a go to equipment, I found several problems with only a detailed inspection each time i walk around.

The other issue is that many times the CEO or senior managers do not unsderstand this and permit only hiring low skill staff to save money.
